  Since 1862

IEEI - Institute of industrial electronics and electrical engineering was estabilished in 1987. Since 2006 IEEI has been registered in Latvian Scientific institutions register. The staff of Institute includes six professors, five associated professors and nine senior researchers, eight researchers, ten assistants and twenty one doctoral students that are constantly engaged in different government and industry funded research projects. The area of expertise includes electric drives, power electronic converters, hydrogen systems, solar systems, energy storage systems, power quality, electrical transport systems and intelligent control systems.

Institute of industrial electronics and electrical engineering has the cooperation with European Center for Power Electronics (ECPE) and is the one of competence centres for power electronics in europe.
